Ellara Praetor

HE WAS THE KING,

The ferry ride across the starlit waters seemed endless, and Enyo's heart pounded with each passing wave. She hated deep waters, but even she knew her place in the ocean. By the time she stepped onto the rock shore, the full moon had risen high, bathing her gleaming armor in pale silver light. A gust of briny air blew in from the sea, and with it came the alarming scent of crocodiles. Enyo stiffened, her heart thumping as she scanned her surroundings, being sure to not linger by the water's edge for too long. The Dunamis recalled her last encounter with the lizards, strong jaws clamping around her body, causing her armor to cave in... Her chest tightened at the memory but she didn't falter. Cowardice could get her killed.

Besides, Erebros' summons had seemed urgent and she wouldn't keep him waiting any longer than he had. Though she did wish he had chosen somewhere closer. The island itself was damn near barren. Mud. Stone. And little vegetation that desperately was trying to live. There were flat overlapping rock formations, like jagged scales. As if this very island was just the shoulder of a massive crocodile. Yet it was silent. No hiss of lizards, flicks of snakes, or bellows of crocodiles. Even they seemed to have fled. Perhaps they, too, sensed the worms ravaging the lands.

Foberos circled overhead, her sharp eyes scanning for threats. When she spotted Erebros perched atop a tall rock, she felt relief mixed with unease. Whatever business they had to discuss should be important enough to make her travel as far west as she could to an island infested with lizards.

When she neared him, she finally spoke,

"Erebros. You chose perhaps the worst of places to choose."

AND SHE WAS HIS SWORD
