How Long Until The Pain Goes Away?

It had been some time since Loccian took the throne. Since she had announced taking another male as her mate and since having her children. He could not deny that they were beautiful...just as she was. And it was hard for him to cross her path, or see her with the children and mate all at once. He had placed his heart on his sleeve, and discovered that perhaps true love didn't really exist. He had vowed and promised to protect her, to lift her depression and to be there when she needed him. But now, she had someone else. And he was unsure how to cope with that fact. It had, after all, come out of the blue for him. And their last meeting had not been pleasant for him. He walked towards the lake that was part of their territory, away from the barn where most of the pack seemed to be. Once at the shores, he sat and stared out at the lakes somewhat choppy waters.
