Lakota was sleeping, dreaming peacefully of chasing a rabbit, little paws churning as she raced after the fluffy creature in her dream. The ebony and ivory pup was still new to the world, unversed in it's ways. She had never hunted a rabbit on her own in real life, but that did not take away from the joy of the hunt in her dream. The little girl couldn't wait to grow up and hunt on her own, taste the blood fresh from a carcass, not the stale blood that she occasionally licked off of the pelts of her parents.

The young girl was closing in on the rabbit, just about to pounce and make the kill when Kota was nudged and brought back into wakefulness. Blinking sleep out of bleary dual-toned irises, Lakota lifted her head to identify the wolf who had disturbed her much-needed slumber. Gold and crimson orbs picked out her father, Cherokee, standing above her. He spoke a few words, encouraging Kota to get up and join him outside, an activity the pup was loath to do when she was curled up with her siblings, warm and sleepy. However, Cherokee was insistent. Lakota groaned, a high pitched puppy growl. "But Papa!" Lakota whined. "I dun wanna get up."

Mumbling to herself, Lakota struggled to her paws, still half asleep. The girl kept her back paws in one place, but slid forward on her front paws until her front legs were flush with the den floor, stretching her back. Kota yawned, an adorable squeal. Glancing around for her father, Lakota realized that Cherokee had already made his way to the entrance of the den. The girl padded quietly after him, flopping down next to her ebony father and laying her head on his front paws, assuming he was still in the same spot. "Why's you only woke me up?" Kota asked, her speech not as advanced as that of a grown wolf.
