Lakota had nearly fallen straight back to sleep on her father's paws when Cherokee tugged one of the pup's ears and spoke once more, asking about breakfast. "Well duhhh," Lakota said in the moment before Cherokee rolled her off of his paws. The pup yelped once and laid on the ground, a tangle of tail and gangly legs. Lakota glared sarcastically at her father, disconcerting irises narrowed playfully. The young girl yawned once more before rising to her too-large paws. Lakota was slowly waking up, the fresh dawn air crisp in her nostrils.

Lakota stood by patiently while her father stretched, waiting for him to reveal his true plans for the morning. When he mentioned catching rabbits, Lakota's eyes bugged nearly out of their sockets. The girl was paralyzed with surprise for a moment, staring at Cherokee as he began walking out into the world. Finally realization clicked and Lakota sped after him, short legs pumping. The girl attempted to leap onto her father's back, excitement making her giddy.

"Papa are we really gon' hunt?!" Kota yelped. "Are you gon' teach me?" the girl's mind was moving a thousand miles a second, her mouth struggling to catch up. Words spilled from her maw in a rapid tumble. "I was jus' dreamin' 'bout huntin' a rabbit, and now I really get to!" Lakota yipped her excitement. "Yay, Papa!"
