Silently and slowly, one beast resembling a fox tracked another. The tracker was the small wolf Isabella who was low to the ground, slow moving, and doing her best to hide among the trees in the winter. The snow made it easier to track, but so much harder to hide. Not that she minded, hunting and tracking were both passions of hers, the bigger the challenge the better. The thing she was tracking this time was about as red as her and much fluffier, a fox squirrel. The creature had come down from the tree to stash some food here and there and Isabella had found a hiding place and simply waited for it to get close to her.

Her position took her scent away from the rodent and it wasn't long until its scent was strong and close to her. When it was right in front of the tree she struck in a swift pounce, pining the creature down before giving it a quick clean kill with one bite. Before she ate, she lowered her head in thanks for the life that she had taken. Eating was quick, and since she was small it was enough to stay away hunger for a brief while.

Licking her lips and cleaning her fur after the meal she looked skyward as ran began to fall. The trees blocked most of it thankfully, she did not wish to get wet today. Somewhat full and happy, she decided to walk though the tress and perhaps find one with a hollow large enough for her to use. Instead she came across another wolf who did not look happy. Isabella approached with her blue orbs pined on the stranger. Her ears and head were high as usual, her tail was even with her body and a calm diplomatic look was on her face. She was simply curious as to who this wolf was. "A little more mud and I wouldn't have been able to smell you. This rain does not help of course." Her words were relaxed, idle yet her voice made it clear she didn't want to be ignored. "A good way to hunt in the winter, smelling of the earth. Then you just need to not be seen." She said figuring that was a good reason to be muddy. The all too logical part of her mind did not see that the mud could simply come from a bad day.
