After the Storm

An ear would twitch at the sound of movement, eyes remaining closed. She had an idea of who it was, the only one to make such heavy steps was her one and only mate, Gerhardt. Within seconds she would feel his warm body lower beside Loccian, head head turning to her left so she could look at him. The man would ask if she was alright, and a small smile would form, gently licking his snout. She figured he knew she wasn't, but she still appreciated him asking. ?I am fine dear...? She spoke in soft tones, and though her voice was a bit strained, she tried to relax for these few moments with her love. It seemed like since becoming Queen and a mother they didn't get to spend much, quality time together. He would bring up the storm that had happened the last few days, what had gone down out there. A light sigh would leave her lips as she felt his tail curl around her rump, her body curling into his. ?It was the worst thing I have ever seen from the earth... never have I seen deeply rooted trees sway so easily, to be snapped in half and smash into the ground....? Rethinking those moments would send a chill down her spine, making the woman nuzzle into her mate's neck. ?Some of the Kingdom were injured and thankfully no lives were lost.? She added on, taking in a deep breath. ?If something were to happen to you, or our children... I wouldn't know what to do.? She whispered softly, jaws clenching. What would she have done if she lost the one she loved, and the little lives they had created?The woman already lost her own family, a father mad with power dying after the war he put his pack into, a mother who stood by and watched, a brother who turned his back on her but then committed suicide not long after reuniting, then her other brother... vanishing then reappearing and leaving again after the war with Valhalla...
