Matters of the Heart

Despite his neutral expression, his dominant poise masked the unsureness that lingered permanently in his chest. Consuming his mind. He wanted revenge for the life that had been taken from him, he wanted to paint the world with the blood of the woman that had taken his father from him -- and yet fear kept him from acting. Subduing him into a composed state. Never would he have thought he would be helping rule a pack. Why Deteste trusted him, Basilisk still was not sure.
His strange purple gaze, vibrant and yet cold as ice, took in the stranger's appearance as he shifted forward. The trees stood tall around them, looming like giants, mocking them with their size and ferocity. And yet the stranger seemed to bow to him, moving to press her stomach to the earth, submitting to him. It was a strange feeling, and he felt a surge of adrenaline flood his veins. Silence would reign over the duo for a long, long moment as he observed her. Much could be determined from a creature's appearance -- but not everything.
He was wary even as he took a few more steps toward her, head tilting slightly to the side. "What do you seek in a family? And what will you contribute?" he would inquiry thoughtfully, though his tones were calculated and somewhat cold. If she wanted friendship and love and all that, she would be disappointed here. But strength and respect and control were things Tortuga could offer her. "I am Basilisk Saxe, Dignitary of Tortuga."
