Is There Really A Cure?

Silence seemed to follow the young far where ever she went, birds hushing and wildlife slithering from her path no matter her mood. She had begun to make her way from the north a few days back, not moving in any particular direction or moving with any purpose. Paws dragged languidly across the various terrains she crossed, head and tail hung low as dull blue eyes watched the ground disappear beneath her. She had spent her first few months after leaving Amenti avoiding the company of others, hiding when she saw them approaching but now as she headed further away from her old pack lands she didn't hide from the presence of her own kind. But then again who needed to hide anyways? Most took pity on her at first but once they realized she couldn't or wouldn't speak their patience was short lived and they often left her. She couldn't blame them? Only her family had ever accepted her for what she was even with her lack of voice. Why had she ever left? How could she have ever left him? The only one who had ever wholly and completely accepted her and she had disappeared on him in the middle of the night, slinking off into the shadows like the silent wraith she was. Just as she was today, slithering through the shadows. She didn't seem to mind or take notice to the fact that daylight turned into darkness as sand turned into stone beneath her paws. Toenails clicked against the rough stone beneath her and the sound echoed like screams around her. Slowly blue eyes would blink and ears would flitter around, the first sign of life from the young girl in quite some time, as the sound of her own paw falls began to register in her skull. Where was she? She paused in her trek and rolled her shoulders, noticing for the first time how tired her muscles were and how sore she was from all that walking. And when was the last time she had eaten? Brow furrowed as she gazed up at the stone ceiling above. A cave? She had wandered into a cave? A cave like the cave she had fled from? For a moment fear froze her and her nose worked franticaly to try and figure out if she was back in Amenti lands. There were no pack scents around but there was the scents of other wolves? She reached forward with one blackened foreleg, followed by a cream hind and then she picked up her pace until she was moving at a walk once more. She couldn't quite pinpoint the exact location of the other wolf or maybe even wolves but they were around. There was a paw full of scents from other wolves, some fresh, some stale and others that were quite old. It wasn't until she walked almost face first into a black and white male that she realized she was a lot closer then she had originally though. Blue eyes snapped open wide and ears immediately pinned to her skull in shame as she back peddled to put distance between them and quickly. Tail curled swiftly between her hind legs as she regained her balance and lowered her head in a mixture of shame and protection. Though she had been lucky enough to avoid violence so far in her life she knew that some wolves could be violent and cruel. Aaron had told her that their old king could be quite cruel at times. How was she to know whether or not this male was trustworthy or not going to lash out at her? |
