...The grass was damp beneath his paws, cooling them and clinging to his coat with every step. He had caught her scent already. Breathing in as it swirled about his mussel with its brilliant, soothing fragrance?

The sleeping wolf shifted in his dream, the moon that marked the night hung suspended and unseen upon the blanket of blackness, covered by misty and dark clouds. The full moon seemed to catch him in his dream, bringing out the colours and textures, even the feelings. Making it seem all the more real and possibly fighting. This dream, however, caused him no fear. No, it was a memory... it was a piece of the past that his heart longed to remember. He did not care to be awake now... not when he was so tired, not when there was a memory worth remembering...

... He followed that scent; He felt no surprise at his longing to find its owner, there was nothing he wanted more then to follow it, moving freely across the land, as smooth and silent as the gentle wind that guided him. He could hear the whisper of nature, feel it in the gentle waves that brushed against his coat in both memory and reality. Here was where he belonged, and the end of this path was something worthy to call home. It didn't have to be a piece of land to this wonderer; it just had to be this song. The one wolf who called to his heart this way, so different to the feel of friendship or the guiding hand of Mother Nature. He felt it immeasurable and thus without need to question, this feeling that brought forth his love and kindness and reason for being...

The brilliance of the sky awakening to the roaming sun split in colours aligning to the shades it had shown the first time... the real time, not the dream. It was a pang in his heart to remember this, but he could not stop the tide of memories that flowed freely through him. Who was he to deny its path?

This stretch of journey ended, and there she was, her beauty unmatched by the earth, the sky, the wind and the water. Of course it was! For she held far more beauty then the plain old eye could see. Everything about her, right down to that song that hummed through her being and lifted his very heart.
?Illaria?
He murmured gently, announcing his presence to her as he stepped from the shadows of which he walked.
?It?s been to long?
He murmured gently, wondering if she had meet with the leader of Rukai... wondered what fate had been decided for her. He knew she had done well... how could she not? She was Illaria, after all. And it had been too long, since his heart had last sung with hers. It had been weeks... since that day on the mountains that they both had wanted to last for all eternity. Simply sitting upon a cliff that looked across the world and feeling the wind through their coats and hearing the calls of eagles as they soared, soared as the two wolves hearts had.
?My beloved?
He whispered, moving gently forward now, his open face alight with friendship and love, singing with freedom and the knowledge of how much he loved her?

He turned again in his sleep, twitching and letting out a soft moan ? not that he was aware of this. How he longed to truly see her again, for it to be real, for his paws to touch the earth, and the wind to guide him to her. Curse this distance between them now. Not just in body, in wide stretching spaces, but in mind. She had changed, and slipped from him. He had not seen it coming, to ensnared by his emotions and living a life in contentment simply to know this angel loved him. She had slipped from him, lost the feeling of love and companionship they had once shared and now all he had to content himself with was memories.

The night slipped past and eventually the wolf was freed from the grip the dream had held upon him. He sighed as he stretched and rose. He had travelled long and hard the last few days but he could feel in the softness of the wind that he did not need to keep the demanding pace going today, he arrived at whatever lands it was that had compelled him here. He was humbled by the clarity of his dream, a touch of sadness in his features by its lingering emotions. He followed the tug of the wind until his paws no longer touched the softness of grass and gripped instead in the untameable immensity of sand, and within the tang of salt that hung upon the air he could catch the trace of another wolf. He followed the line of sand the stretched out before him and in the distance he could see the form of a creature sitting by the waters edge. He seemed not to mind the flowing of the water that rose to almost right before him before slinking back out into the depths of sea. It had been a long while now since Kastiel had seen another wolf. His wild passage here and led little room for straying off his path, but there was something about the lands he tread on now that told him he would stay.

He began to make his way over to the other wolf, waiting till he was a few paces away before seating himself also on the softness of the sun-warmed sand and sat for a moment, unwilling to break the gentle silence the other had created.
