Talon had searched for her for so long. He truly had nothing left to live for. His parents had abandoned him at such a young age, along with his siblings. He decided that was a freak -- deformed, weak, pathetic. Why else would nobody want him around? She was the only one to have ever showed him true kindness. Even as the seasons passed -- as the harsh winter faded into a lovely spring, which gave way to a sweltering summer -- her face refused to leave his mind. Her gentle voice, heavy with an accent of her native tongue. The way she embraced him every time they had seen one another, like she never wanted to let go of him.

And yet she had. Like everyone else, she'd left him. For so long he could not understand why. He felt so much affection towards her, and she had returned it readily; but it was always short-lived. She had admitted she did not want to live in a pack, but would try for him. He had never cared for packs, either. He didn't fit in anywhere.. especially not in Glaciem. And yet it seemed his presence had hardly been noticed, and certainly had not been missed when he'd slipped so effortlessly from the pack, gone without a word.

He needed to find her. Kangi. His shining star. A beacon of hope for him. The last time they had met, he'd hardly been a yearling, so naive and young still. Now, he was two years old, though looked very much like a child still. He'd never lost his lanky frame, though no longer looked as emaciated as he once had. Food was plentiful for him in the summer, even despite not being able to take down any large game by himself. He'd grown adept at living off of rabbits and rats, and they were much more plentiful and fat during the summer.

He had yet to find even a hint of her scent. So when he did, he couldn't help but wonder if he was dreaming. Awkwardly he had traveled, away from the northern lands and to the east, where the land was fertile and brimming with life. He had been drawn to the ocean, to the crisp, salty air, and this was where he caught her scent. It had been so long... months... seasons. An entire year had passed. He was not a child any longer, but certainly did not feel like a man. He wondered if his father would be proud of him, or disgusted at his deformed son and what his life had turned into. Crawling after a girl who had abandoned him, crying himself to sleep. He was no man...

And yet Kangi's scent kept him going. It was sweet and so familiar to him, despite the length of time that had passed since he had seen her last. He felt his heart surge in his chest, and he struggled to increase his pace whilst not falling. The land here gave way to a beach, surrounded by tall cliffs that tried to shield it from the world.

From the corner of his eye he saw her, sprawled out on the beach, almost as though she didn't have a care in the world. It would hurt badly if she didn't miss him... but he had to try. To find closure, at least. Though he did not know what life would be without the hope of having her in it again. He let out a bark, though spoke no words, unsure what her reaction might be to his sudden presence.
