The First Lesson

It was time for her to learn more about healing. She wasn't sure whether she was ready, a bit nervous to learn from her mother, who was the best. Would she disappoint her? There was a bit that Lyric had picked up on her own while traveling as a rogue, but it was nothing compared to the knowledge that Erani had gathered through experience. Still, she would squash her nervousness the best that she could as she made her way toward her mother's den. Hopefully she wasn't too busy to start her lessons - it had been a day since the meeting, and Lyric was wasting no time to get started on learning more. Her lips were pulled into a smile, her strides smooth despite the butterflies in her stomach.
"Mother? Are you there?" She would try not to be hesitant and keep her voice strong, she should have been soothed by the strong scent of her mother within her den, but it only made her that much more nervous. Erani was a protector in her mind, the best healer, the best leader - the thought of disappointing the woman was enough to make her want to turn around. Yet she was hard pressed to start the learning process, and strong willed in her yearning to impress the woman she respected and idolized so strongly. Her mother was a kind, understanding woman - she would not berate her for her inevitable mistakes, she knew that.
If only her nerves would take that fact into consideration.
