The monkey crept closer, jumping down from the tree and padding towards them slowly. It neither stopped nor slowed, moving towards the pups with an idle confidence that Warja wished she possessed. Instinctively she didn't move as it approached and in a matter of heartbeats the two were face to face. The howler paused in front of her, extending its nose in her direction as its nostrils twitched, breathing her in. Warja did not know what to make of this. Should she sniff it too? Was this how monkeys greeted each other? Like wolves?
Tentatively, Warja leaned forward and sniffed at the air around the creature. It smelled odd. Gamely and unfamiliar. It smelled like prey and the pup would have evaluated the monkey's scent further, but it decided that they'd sniffed enough and barked in her face before flinging itself into the tree. Ears ringing, Warja didn't hear the noisy retreat of the odd creature, but her eyes tracked its movements until it and its companion were out of sight.
Wearing a stunned expression, the pup turned to Kismet. "I think...I might be done exploring for today."
