The boy listened, entranced, as the small woman began to sing. He was quite aware that she had switched songs on him, and this made a smirk appear on his lips. But his jaw began to go slack as Misha reached those high notes, her gorgeous voice rising and falling with the song. Her voice, her amazing voice, made his heart flutter even more than the adorable giggle that followed. His breath was heavy in the silence that followed. Things looked promising. She said yes. All the happiness in the world couldn't never live up to this moment. Misha was his mate. She had said yes. The thoughts repeated themselves in his mind, as if he still couldn't quite believe it was true. But it was true. All of it was true. She loved him, she was sitting here, she was beautiful, she was his mate. He let out a trembling sigh and tried not to be weak. No, he would be strong for her. Now and always. He would protect her, and be there for her, and... The songs may have been switched, but he decided to switch them back. He had one last line to sing to his new mate. "I can make you happy, make your dreams come true... there's nothing that I wouldn't do. Go to the ends of the earth for you... to make you feel my love..." His heart ached with overwhelming joy as he curled up around Misha, nuzzling his head into her neck. "It's been a long night. Get some rest, pretty girl. We can walk home to Tortuga tonight." Then, as the exhaustion began to kick in, Dayton placed one last, lingering kiss on his mate's head. His mate. Misha. The boy had never been happier. Walk. "Talk." Think. |
