Never-ending

She was so cold; no matter how much moss was piled around her she couldn?t stop the shivering. Curling in around herself she waited in the darkness, as days drifted by in agonising slowness. Was she never going to be better again? Was this what the rest of her life was going to be like? Her heart ached for her siblings, for Val and Bass and Fuzzykins, for her adventures and the fun she had had before winding up stuck in this den. She was bored out of her mind and felt nothing but miserable. The little pile of shivering mass was nothing to the energetic bundle of life she had been before the sickness, and she wanted now nothing more than for this to be over. She could only imagine all the fun things Signy was finding out there and knew it would be so hard to catch up with her sister now. She sighed heavily into the cool floor and shivered some more.
She was hardly ever hungry these days, but didn?t think that mattered, it was not like she could spend the days out there burning energy. All the same her little belly of puppy fat had quickly faded, and a skinny sheen to her coat was beginning to show. She sighed again and began fiddling with a stick that lay on the floor. She pushed it to and fro with her paws until she was too tired to do much more. She scrunched up her face in displeasure and let out a moody sigh Mommy?? she called out softly, knowing her mother was never far away.
