This female knew nothing of his family, that much was clear. Though Castiel listened just to determine that this was true, his heart was already set on leaving when she began to speak about knowing little of the previous pack. The pack she was describing seemed similar to what he remembered of Valhalla, but his ties had always been to his family, not the pack, and that meant that there was nothing here tying him down. No familiar faces had appeared as the meeting began, and it seemed unlikely that his family would be showing up any time soon. His mother's scent had been strong at the borders, but now it was gone, drowned by the overlapping scents of far too many strangers for Castiel's taste. This was not his home, not any longer.

The Kaiser's voice faded into silence, and as a russet female raised her voice, Castiel rose to his paws, slinking away from the gathering. There was no need for him to be here any longer.
