They had not travelled far from the willows, well in this area the willows weren't as plentiful as the main kingdom was. There were a few of the drooping trees here and there but that was it. Just the soft dew-soaked grass for their paws to tread on. A cyan gaze would look back to the other wolf, not far behind. Dusk would let Winter hunt wherever he chose and he hoped the white fellow would at least bring home some sort of prey. Of course he could hunt! Why did he even come if he couldn't hunt? To scare away birds?

Ears would listen carefully to the sounds of nature. The trees would rustle in the wind, but that was all he could hear. He waited for the scuttling sound of tiny paws or the scent of mud. Eyes would scan for a white or brown creature hiding within the tall grass. With his long stay in the willows with Esti, his scent now matched the protecting trees. If any creature was here, it wouldn't be able to smell the hunter until his teeth had sunken into its neck.

He kept his maw shut. Just silence. Alert eyes would flicker as his nose took in the familiar tree scent. Nothing. But nothing is always something. And there had to be plentiful prey here. It was spring, the forests were usually bustling with prey. But a key to hunting was patience and soon he would find a plump creature dangling from his jaws.
