Oh, he knew exactly what she meant. Precisely why he had left his former pack, trained as a mercenary many had fallen by his tooth and claw. He was always afraid, expecting even, that someone would one day appear and take his life. But he was still here, he was still alive. And as she explained he would shake his head only briefly. "Then stop looking for him. You control your own path, others do not set it for you. As long as you follow the wrong one, you will always make the wrong choices and regret will eat you alive." He wasn't sure if he should tell her about his own past. The wolves he had felled in the war against their enemy. So much blood had been spilled that day, including that of his own pack mates. He had been badly wounded, thus the X shaped scar on his chest.

He reached forward to offer a comforting nuzzle then, aquamarine eyes showing an air of gentleness that he seldom showed to anyone. As a former mentor, he also tried his best for the younger children in his old home. When war had struck, he had been there to calm the minds and hearts of the children so they could think clearly and be kept from a panic. He had succeeded most of the time...failed with one child who had ran from the den, straight into the line of fire. His mind flashed with the memory, eyes remaining still as they looked forward and staring into space with the memory. He had gone after him, but wasn't fast enough. The child's voice rang in his ears as he screamed. Sephiroth ordering another to get the rest of the children away as he himself went after the one who had dared kill a child. His Nephew. The memories would relinquish their hold on him, his mind returning to the present as he stared at Angel. "No trouble will be caused, not as long as I am breathing."
