Dusk had followed him to the perfume that emitted from the two elks. Winter was thrilled for it would have been difficult if had to attempt the kills alone, and he would have. Though, it would probably result in him being injured and an unsuccessful kill. But he could do better than rabbits. The hares would barely satisfy himself alone. No, he had to impress his kingdom.

Winter listened to Dusk's plan. Yes, the babe would not leave the mother's side. After all, the fawn appeared to be only hours old. The poor thing was trembling viciously as it suckled from its mother's warmth.

So, lead hunter. . . You get the killing blow. I will distract her and keep her attention on me. She won't flee with her baby at her side. When she's striking at me with her antlers, go for the kill. Should be pretty easy, I would think. The fawn won't be of any trouble. It can barely stand.

Winter darted out toward the mother - no need to sneak. No way should would run with her helpless child's life at stake. He barked at the mother making sure her eyes lied upon him. The creature fought him with her antlers, swiping them in his direction. One swipe with her antlers landed successfully on his left forelimb - Winter yelped in pain; however, he continued with their hunt. No way could he back down now without risking even more serious injuries. With now a limp, he continued to dance with the elk so that Dusk could finish her off and then afterwards, the babe.
