The ivory dame walked across the barren waste land, carrying her most precious jewel within her jaws; Liberty. If she was going to take her mothers place as Beta she would have to earn it, and she would begin learning early. She wasn't sure exactly when she would step down, but for now, she was the solid beta even though time was not on her side. She was now six years old, had just given birth to a pup, and was still recovering. But, she was more worried about her child's future than her own. If she was going to amount to something, she would need to begin early. She came toward the middle of the battlefield, stopping to set her small pup down for a moment. She could hear other battles going on not too far away from her position, and it made her weary. She simply wanted her pup to see a real fight, not be in the middle of one. She turned to Liberty, eyes carrying a stern look. "You will become the beta of Valhalla Liberty, but, you must earn it as I did. I will teach you what you need to know from an early age, and today, we begin with a simple spar. I know this place is frightening, but you must overcome fear, along with other internal conflicts. I would never let anything happen to you, do believe me, under my eye, you are safe." She offered her daughter a gentle smile, then lifted her muzzle toward the sky, singing for anyone who would be willing to have a simple spar. Once she was done her head dipped back down to its normal height as she pulled her small daughter close to her. She felt bad for exposing her to this so young, but she needed it. She needed to become something. |
