He slept soundlessly in the midst of his home, curled up on a bit of moss he'd collected from the shores of the river. The lanky male was deep in slumber. Since his promotion, Xae had immersed himself in the knowledge of healing. For once, it was not only because of his desperate need to know things. It was also for the sake of impressing one of the first females he'd ever met upon entering Abaven's territory. In his knowledge-seeking, Xae had come to terms with his feelings, which had only recently been very confusing. He was in love with Harmony. In fact, he truly believed that he loved the mocha-and-cream fae the moment his grey eyes had been set upon her. While he'd met other females who were beautiful, eye-catching, even, none had yet to compare to Abaven's Tagavor. Of course, Xae had also come to terms that his feelings would never be returned. It was quite clear to the young Vor that Harmony was not interested in becoming his, and though it hurt him quite deeply, he would not force her nor would he chase her. Xae was not interested in either option, for they would surely only cause harm to Harmony, and the russet male loved the light female enough to keep his feelings from her. If she did not care to be his, then Xae would only wish that whoever she did choose, was a worthy mate for such a queen. As long as Harmony was happy, Xae was happy. Or at least, he could pretend to be happy.

In the midst of his dreams - which involved frolicking and teaching and learning with a certain Destruction fae - a sound entered. For a moment, the call mingled with his dream, changed. The call seemed to become higher-pitched, more female than male. Harmony's song. The urgency, the importance behind the call, softened considerably. In his half-dreaming state, Xae imagined Harmony singing to him a song of love. The almost suddenness of the declaration is what ultimately brought the leggy male to the waking world. His entire body buzzed, heart pounding. The scents of field mice and long grass faded to a much more moist, tree and earthly scent. The sun no longer shimmered brilliantly and warmed his fur. Grey eyes looked around for a moment, before shutting tightly, desiring to bring the dream back. As he continued to awaken, it became clear that it was not Harmony's voice he'd heard, but Bass's. Slowly, the softness of the song became sharper, and the Vor could now hear the importance that lie in the summons. He couldn't help but sigh as he pushed himself to his charcoal paws. Harmony had not sung her love to him. Not even in his dreams, for it was not Harmony's call that had interrupted his sleep. Xae shook his head harshly to chase the remnants of the dream from his mind, and then shook his entire body, shaking out the disappointment from the ends of his long coat. Xae lowered his body just enough for him to slither between the slender opening of his tree-den. He glanced around briefly before turning in the direction that seemed to have the strongest smell. Xae followed his nose as it guided him to the group.

Almost immediately, he noticed Harmony, and the song that his sleep had made up came back to his mind. He was quick to shove the tune violently down, and he turned away from her to look around the pack. He was not the last, he felt certain of that, though there were more wolves that had arrived here than Xae had hoped. He wanted to prove himself to Bass, and he doubted that arriving just in the nick of time would earn him any brownie points. Nevertheless, Xae chose not to dwell on that. He was here now, before the meeting officially started, and that was the important thing. His grey gaze swung finally to Bass as Xae sat down, off to the left side of the group, close enough that he would easily hear Bass unless those around him talked too loudly.
