She knew it had to come to an end. This life couldn't go on forever. Eventually she would have to face reality and come to terms with what she had done, especially now in the very last days of her heat. She could already feel that high fading and it terrified her. The last couple of months had found her wandering from home for weeks at a time, finding any brute that would take her, endangering her own life in the pursuit of that rush at one point. She would have to go home, she would have to tell Natalya what she had done, would have to deal with the consequences... but today was not that day. Today she would chase that high one last time. Phoebe would firmly secure her place in the underworld, because what god was worthy of mount olympus after her recent actions?
She searched for any sign of a brute, any brute really, that might take up her offer. She was desperate. It upset her that she was so desperate, but she was unwilling to acknowledge the emotion right now. Instead she focused on her search. Her legs carried her along on naturally long, graceful strides, her steps fairly slow as to not risk missing someone, some opportunity, along the way. She paused long enough at the edge of a clear, cool lake to lap up some of the water. That was when she heard a noise behind her. Her ears pricked and she turned her head to look over her shoulder, silver gaze curious and eager to see who might be there.
