we used to swim in your stories and be pulled down by their tide

Letting Quelt speak was something that came naturally to Serra. His words were soft, but his laughter bitter, and it made Serra feel guilty. Had she made him feel bad? She had only hoped to comfort her dear brother; he did not deserve to blame himself for Isardis' actions. "That does not mean that it is your fault." Serra countered Quelt's statement with that same firm confidence that she had spoken with earlier. "Isardis seems to have had a lot of fun in his early years." Serra added dryly a moment later, snorting to herself as she gazed at her brother.

The change in topic was welcome - if a little saddening to Serra. "I don't think I could ever be mad at you for long." Serra admitted with a light laugh, tail wagging easily behind her. "I missed you a lot when you were busy with Irune, but that does not mean that I was angry." Though that was a bit of a lie, Serra would never have admitted to Quelt that she had been hurt and upset by that development. Quelt had meant no harm by it.

After a moment, he would continue (on a different subject altogether), and for a moment Serra would hesitate, mind flashing to thoughts of the family that she had left behind. "Quelt, I would be honored." The words spilled from her tongue impulsively as she gazed at the boy before her - the rest of their family was gone, and it was true, now that Quelt was raising the Walker youngsters, things had changed. Serra Walker had a nice ring to it anyways. "Serra Walker and Quelt Walker, huh?" Serra tested the name out with a soft laugh, grinning adoringly at her brother.
