Today This Ends

The whole birthing was fast for Dhiren. He remained around Guinevere with open eyes as he witnessed the pups coming from her womb. His mind was blown to its maximum proportions, but he didn't voice it to anyone present. Once the babes had entered the world and were cleaned up by Song, his gaze left their small bodies and rose to meet his mother's bi-colored eyes. He knew that they had to talk and he didn't cringe and the prospect.
Guinevere continued to curl into a fetal position, not daring to move from her spot. A sigh escaped his lips and he loosened his grip around her white frame. Rising onto all fours, he nudged her forehead before pulling back. Words still wouldn't come, for his emotions had left him in a state he had never been in: numb. He nudged her with all four paws, wanting her to rise and follow him. There was a vacant den not far from where she lay, and for her safety, he wanted her behind the borders.
