The day was as dreary as Guinevere?s thoughts as she lay silently with her new daughter. The reality would still destroy her as she tried to make sense of how she?d lost a whole pregnancy to time. She could hardly bring herself to come out of the new den she?d been placed in. When the dark Destruction had come to move her she had almost protested, but any kind of disagreement within her had died. She was complacent and willing to do whatever was asked of her, somehow they had kept her within the packs borders. How long would he let her stay? She thought about what Dhiren must be going through a lot, but she?d made no attempts at talking ot him. She didn?t deserve him or his help. Still, even though Charmiene was not his own he had been there to help her through the rough birth.
She didn?t know what to think, so she would keep quiet and stay curled around her newborn until the future revealed itself to her. These thoughts would swirl about her mind as she lay in the den, her small child sleeping quietly through the rain. With her eyes closed her rest would be mistaken for sleep, but she would not consciously correct Dhiren. He would approach, the faint sound of wet paws on the earth would alert her to his presence, but she would not stir. She knew he was as uncomfortable around her as she was of him. The scent of a fresh meal would make her stir however, and as the boy returned to his den across the half moon she would push herself from the ground and sniff at the leg. Bright yellow eyes would glance up towards him for only a moment before a tear would begin to fill them. Quickly she?d avert her gaze from him and back to the meal he?d provided for her.
They hadn?t spoken a word, and yet he was there for every moment of her journey through the sudden parenthood. He saw her through birth and would feed her every day after. The care he had for her was very much there, but he would always retreat when he drew near. Her russet ears would fall against her skull as she took in the nourishing meal, heartache plainly written on her features. She was so confused and lost, only having Charmiene to talk to and sort out everything that had happened to her.
