In the days they had spent together outside the caves Cecily had remembered everything that had been good about her life. The stories her mother had told her when she could not sleep, the worry and love her mother had always shown her as Cecily got into trouble after trouble. She knew Emer was strong, she had seen it herself when the plague had struck Valhalla. She had not cared for her own health then, she had stayed with Cecily risking her won life in a plague that might have been catching for all they had known at the time. She had hid her worry from Cecily, when surely she must have feared for both their lives. She knew Emer was strong, stronger then Cecily could imagine herself being, even if Emer couldn't show it right now. For the first time since Valhalla had fallen Cecily felt like her self again, felt strong and carefree and invisible, and it was all because of Emer and her presence that she felt like this.
She smiled, and nodded as Emer agreed that she also was ready, and the pair could start their journey in search of lost family members. She would keep to Emer's side as they walked, doing it together, side by side. She didn't know the big wide world very well, her path to Abaven had been wild and confusing, so she hoped Emer knew enough to get them somewhere ? although she supposed it didn't really matter, even through she wanted to return to Abaven when she could, her home was where Emer was.
