Ignorance is Bliss

Maija's smile only widened when she saw her dear Ecaterina race towards the rest of the world. She knew it contained evils, but it also contained many, many good things. The woman wanted to protect her small baby forever, but she had felt that way with her first litter and knew it was impossible. So, she took in the day and replied with, "I will show you everything I can."
She didn't know how to explain Neo's absence, especially when her daughter looked so much like him. If he eventually showed up, she would either be pissed or relieved that he was all right. (The former sounded about right for her point of view at that moment.) However, if he did remain gone, she would suck it up and carry on with her dear whelp. She had to meet her older siblings, of course...but, all in good time.
Cezar was then pulled into play by her and he couldn't help but grumble. The honey badger had dealt with her ever since she had begun to walk around the den. She had realized which buttons of his she could push without him getting angry and biting her. If he did, he knew Maija would instantly kill him. So, he swallowed his frustrations and gently nudged her, attempting to cause her to roll and fall back on her side. If all went well, he would race after her, make his fur all bushy, and attempt to nibble at her front paws before running away to get her to chase him.
