Novella would smile at the boy's answer. Evidently the lessons had had an influence on her children, even Herne opting to continue honing the skill in his own time, desiring to better himself. It was still hard to believe that they were already at an age where they were able and expected to learn these things. "I'm sure you will get better." And she told no lies there, though he wasn't as strong as his siblings, he was quieter than them and would likely be sneakier in tracking once he improved.

He had hoped for more practice it seemed, no intention of actually spending time with her though she had apparently raised her children well, the loving environment meaning that Herne had no desire to leave her side now and together the pair were able to watch the sun continue to rise. What she hadn't expected however was his question, honestly the woman had no answer herself. As the sun rose and sank it'd change between light and dark the colours filtering in as it did so, she understood that much though the actual science behind it was not something a wolf could ever hope to fully understand. "It just happens when the sky grows lighter or darker." She responded, giving the best answer she was able to.
