He spotted the vibrant feathers moments before what sounded like gibberish to him came spilling out at him. He blinked with confusion and took a step back from the brush. He saw her small gray form now, but he couldn't understand a single thing she was saying. Was that some other kind of language? How was he going to talk to her if they couldn't understand each other? The wheels in his head started turning. He gave her a friendly smile, trying to show that he wasn't dangerous. "Come out," he said again, waving her out with his left forepaw. Would it work? He honestly wasn't sure, but he hoped so. He sat back on his haunches to wait patiently for her to calm down and hopefully come out. He could tell she was afraid by the way she was pressed tight to the ground, but he couldn't fathom why. Never in his life had he ever had anyone be afraid of him, certainly not when he was making an attempt to be kind anyway. He would love to get to know someone who knew this area and could show him around, but how was he going to do that if she wouldn't talk to him? |
