HERNE DESTRUCTION

i will call your name, i will share your road

He had never been inclined to wander far from home; Threar had all he really needed, didn't it? His siblings were there and his parents, and assorted extended family members inhabited the pack, which Herne had yet to step paw over the borders of. Aslan had already explored a little, it seemed, and had discovered Sawtooth's lands. But Herne was in no rush to follow in his brother's pawprints. For the most part, he was inclined to stay within his family's lands and exploring even that had left him occupied for the first seasons of his life.

However, Herne could not deny that he was growing older. He was no longer the tiny, frail youngster that he had once been. His legs had muscles on them, and they could carry him far further than they ever had before. Herne had discovered that the further he walked, the stronger he became, and even if it was hard at the time, he was determined to press onwards. As long as he was growing stronger, he wasn't in any particular hurry, but as his paws carried him along, Herne felt a bit of curiosity stirring in his veins.

He wanted to see what the world beyond these lands. It was likely that Herne would only venture past Threar territory only once before settling back down for a while; he knew himself well enough to know and accept that. Wanderlust had never been a defining feature of this young boy, and even as he began to approach the age where wolves began to leave their families, he was content to stay put for the vast majority of the time. But he was growing older and stronger, and Herne thought that perhaps it was time for him to venture past his family's borders and explore the world beyond Threar's lands.

That was what had drawn him out, and once Herne had started wandering, he found it all but impossible to stop. The world was vast and interesting, and almost against his will, Herne found himself pretty far from home. He flopped down finally at the shores of a lake, dipping small paws into the water, ears swivelling wildly as he tried to take in everything that there was to see and hear. This actually was not that different from Threar lands, but they were interesting all the same. This was the furthest he'd ever been from home. Wow.
