Hide It Away

When Lel would enter part of himself in the den, his voice calling out for his daughter, Zola would spring forward to hide under his stomach. She would calm her breaths, feeling safe that her father was now with her and she wasn't alone. She wondered if he would be back for good now, and not off with the black lady. Sad that she didn't even know the woman's name.

"Daddy!"

She would screech in a happy greeting. Her voice was calm along with her breathing now. She didn't even wonder where Lian and their mother were now, she was with Lel and too excited to think of anything else. She would come between his front legs, rubbing against one of them to look up at her father's close to matching optics, a grin to her face.
