OLD DEMONS NEVER VANISH

She would regard him from the distance, eyeing him and watching the struggle he felt as he looked at the beast beside her. She would speak a moment later and introduce the creature beside her as her puppet. Uh. What? He would look at her a moment, lower jaw dropping a touch in disbelief before looking to the creature. Then it hit him, they were in fact standing together and not stalking each other or fighting anything. Okay this was really weird. But he would move forward, motions slow and cautious as he studied the creature while moving. He would freeze again when the beast stepped forward, crossing the boarder and sniffing at him as he offered a greeting. It spoke? "Hey. Solo." He would offer a breathless greeting, not really sure what protocol was here so he would nod and carry on forward. He would close the distance between them and try to shift his focus from the wolverine to his sister. He would reach forward to offer her a greeting, attempting to touch nose to cheek.
She would ask him how things were and he couldn't help but notice the pause. But he would brush it off languidly, shoulders lifting in a slight non committal answer as he tried to figure out what to say. "I'm really happy with her Fia..." It wasn't meant to be a slap in the face to her or his family but as soon as the words came out he would regret them. Was he saying he hadn't been happy with his family? No of course not, he loved his family but he had been so caught up here he had almost forgotten about them. She would carry on, speaking about her calling for him and he would grow slightly. He had not heard of anything... "Sorry Fia but... I can't really leave..." His paws shuffled slightly as he looked at his paws and sighed, drawing in a deep breath as he chose his words carefully. "Things with Gaia have been great but everyone... Everything else kinda sucks. Gaia's mom left her pack after she gave birth because she was hurt and left it to Gaia's blind aunt and her mate. I kinda liked them at first but now I don't know. A lady came for the pack, she fought Gaia's uncle and he fought but then he submitted!" The word was spat out as if it held no meaning in the boys vocabulary. He was angry, rage growing in his voice as lips curled at the memory.
"Katja claimed all of Virgil's kids. Gaia's aunt and uncle are awful! They said things like Gaia should have been killed at birth because she's blind! I hate them Fia!" Woah. Where had that come from? His voice had been raising in tempo and volume steadily but he cut it off suddenly, eyes widening as he studied Fia for a moment before clearing his throat and trying to regain his composure. "Katja made us stay but honestly. I kinda liked her, she taught us to fight and hunt. She gave Virgil's kids the option to come here and stay with their siblings as long as we promised not to run away. So here we are... And what of your pack? How did you claim it? Did you get hurt?" He had so many questions for her but he would leave it at that, not wanting to overload her too much. He noticed his hackles had started to bristle with anger so the large boy would focus on allowing them to relax once more and sit in a neutral position.
