Unfinished business

Curiosity drew him to the battlefield. The little slave he'd acquired after she'd trespassed had summoned Mercy, the Tribune who'd engaged her. The players, their history, their ranks...everything about those involved added to the appeal of the situation. Part of him was pleased that the Servus wasn't cowed and sulking off in a den somewhere. While her call for a spar amused him, he doubted Mercy would feel the same way.

Reaching the pair, he quirked a brow in a silent question and let his gaze wander over both wolves. Mercy didn't seem too pleased with the summons as he'd suspected--not that Valentine blamed her. Sinking to his haunches, the brute settled in to watch. A smirk lifted his lips in gentle amusement. No doubt this would be interesting.
