Cascade grinned as the young girl completely disregarded her teasing - super serious, eh? Either completely innocent or really, really good at pretending... one would hope the first considering her age but was anyone in this world really completely innocent?

She set herself, tongue lolling from her mouth in excitement and concentration. Her weight distributed itself equally to her four paws, her stance shifting to just over shoulder- and hip-width and her body dropped slightly as her joints went lose and bent just the littlest bit. Her toes spread apart, gripping the earth with her claws, and she shifted to roll her shoulders forward and bunch up her scruff. Her chin tucked toward her throat for protection as her ears pinned back and her eyes narrowed. A grin continued to play over her mouth and her tail, held level with her spine for balance, wagged - this was great, how was it that more people didn't enjoy this? She raised her hackles almost lazily, obscuring her slim saluki-like form in ebony puffiness, and then Warja was moving.

She just watched as the smaller girl sped forward - she outweighed Warja by enough that the girl's weight was unlikely to just knock her off her paws, not with her stance set. But just sitting there and taking the hit would be boring... plus Warja was probably a bit sneakier than that. Best not to assume. Sure enough Warja shifted her angle at the last minute, aiming for Cascade's leg rather than her chest.

The Saxe shifted her weight to her hindquarters, bending her joints and sinking down enough for her hocks to nearly rest on the ground, and reared up slightly. With her forepaws up this funneled the attack the slightest bit so that Warja's shoulder struck the underneath of Cascade's chest on the left just next to the junction of her leg. Mild bruising occurred in a small patch where Warja's shoulder blade struck but by digging her hindclaws in Cascade's greater weight kept her from being moved back. Bringing her forepaws up she attempted to wrap them around the very lowest part of Warja's neck, around the shoulders, in the hopes of squeezing and bear-hugging the girl against her.

The very action of rearing up, getting her paws off the ground avoided Warja's sneaky attempt at a leg swipe, but rising up and reaching out meant that Warja's teeth merely met her right foreleg sooner and in her upper arm right below the chest rather than her elbow. The wounds were moderate as Warja's teeth sank in, and Cascade winced. In retaliation she arched her neck, turned her head to her right and attempted to close her jaws overtop Warja's neck at the base of her skull, aiming to grip and squeeze rather than sink her fangs in.
