The World Crumbling Beneath Me

He had known of his wife's choice, respected it but not agreed. The last thing they needed right now was to lose another child and while he was very much aware of the fact that Nat's condition was worsening and her attitude and fire seemed to grow as a result a part of him wondered if she had ever considered him when she disowned the girl... Had she not known what losing his daughter would do to him?
The russet man had followed her, far far behind. Scent more than sight guiding him as he trailed the spotted girl. His wife may have been the one dying but Helios looked it, his fur had grown unkempt and his eyes were tired; sleep mostly avoided him now and when he did nod off it was shallow broken by the hooting of an owl or the sharp chirp of a cricket.
Chione moved onwards to the battlefield and a chill ran down his spine. The man picked up his pace trotting then running once he had heard his daughter's call.
"Chione" He spoke her name softly as she came into view. "Chione let's go home." He expected her to fight but he would persist. He loved her and despite knowing she struggled with that concept he refused to give up.
