His ears rose as the smug howl rang out, the young voice requesting his presence. The caller didn't sound familiar in the slightest, but that didn't necessarily mean he or she was a stranger. In his travels he met many and unless something about them stood out sharply, his memories of them were likely to quickly stale.
Arriving at the border, Valentine was immediately struck by the feeling that he had seen this creature before. It wasn't until his gaze fell on her companion that their brief meeting came back to him. She was one of the yearlings from the battlefield. Not the one that had caught his attention first, but one of the last ones to arrive and crowd the situation.
"So, you're looking for adventure, eh?" Those had been his parting words before he left them to their reunion, or whatever the sudden influx of yearlings had been.
