They had split up for the day, just to cover some more ground while they wandered. Emery had promised her they would meet again when night fell, though he had fallen a bit behind schedule. The male carried a rabbit for her in his jaws as he maneuvered around the oaks. Wandering place to place, hardly settling down for long, had been wonderful. They had even run into Biull, who after some yelling at by Silveris, explained his absence. He was gone again, but with the promise to someday return. It had been a relief to find him.

Finally he would come to where she was resting in the hollow of a tree. Emery would set the rabbit down, laying down next to her. Tongue would rasp over Silveris' ear, a soft whine. She looked exhausted. Had something happened? His heart clenched in his chest, looking her over. She didn't seem hurt at least. Emery would lay his head on his paws, speaking softly.
