The boy managed to escape the den without anyone following after him. Normally a sibling or Darrah would come out seeing that someone had woken up but he normally just sat just outside in the tall grasses near their den. He went a little farther into the plains, abandoning his normally routine to go do something else. Well actually, he was just going to a different place to do his normal routine.
He would leap through the tall grasses, growing but still not tall enough to walk through them. He would then take a seat in what seemed like the center of the meadow. There weren't any dens here, but he had a pretty good look down to the river and he could spot a few dens a ways away and maybe even some wolves walking around.
