Kia let out a bored sigh, annoyed at this male’s words. She gave him a flat look, refusing to lift her lip or let her guard hairs raise. If they were gonna fight, she wanted him to start it. “Look,” she began, in a tone that suggested she was talking to a very young pup. “I know you’re all territorial and crap because you’re a loner and I’m a loner and stuff. But seriously. Chill. And if you’re gonna fight me, then just get it over with. I don’t need a lecture from a wolf who looks to be around the same age as I am. And my parents taught me that you work to earn your right to things. So. What’s it’s gonna be? Are you gonna let me stay and maybe we can have a civil conversation? Or are we gonna fight? Your choice.”
She kept her eyes level with his, unflinching, and while this was the sign of a challenge, it also told the male that she was not afraid, and that she thought they were equals. It was a sign of respect just as much as a challenge. And he would take it however he would take it, and there was nothing she could do about that.
