Walk | Talk | Think

It felt like forever before they reached the end of the unnatural, unstable tunnel, and Miksa could not remember ever feeling so happy to see sunlight. The dark colored girl stepped away from his side, regaining some of her strength, but the moment she left him it felt to the boy that she took his with her. Abruptly, he sat, giving in to the sudden weakness in his legs and just barely keeping himself from falling flat into the snow as he locked his front legs to hold himself upright. His head drooped as he coughed and his bright eyes closed, taking a moment to get his breath back and come to terms with his near death experience. It was nothing compared to what the girl had experienced, but...

Thinking of her, he managed to drag his eyes open and his head up so that he could glance her way just as she spoke. She looked as sorry as she sounded, and it only made him feel worse. He turned himself a little where he sat, not yet with strength enough to stand so soon after everything, and sighed. "I didn't think it was safe," he confessed, "I had a bad feeling but I didn't say anything. I should have." He was just as much to blame as she was, if not more so. It could have all been prevented if he had just spoken up first.

It was not the best first meeting he could have planned for making a new acquaintance, but already it seemed their adventure was coming to an end. Still looking remorseful, the girl prepared to excuse herself and the Glaciem boy perked his ears with concern. "Where will you go?" She seemed to know that he had a place where he could return, had probably picked it up off of his scent before he had gotten entirely covered in dirt and dust, but he could not recall smelling any such scent on her. In fact, as he considered it, he realized then that he knew nothing about her except for the fact she had nearly died just a moment ago. "I'm Miksa...by the way," he added, voice still a little hoarse but kind in his quiet, timid way.
