Obviously he'd seen her first. He'd been in the perfect spot in order to have the optimum vantage point from where to spot newcomers and so she wasn't surprised to see his pale gaze already watching her form as she approached the edge of the vines. She dared not breach their boundary, unsure of how to handle the situation. Had he been in distress she wouldn't have hesitated even for a second coming to his side and presenting whatever aid she could give. But he wasn't, so she held back. Despite her helpful nature, she wasn't one to strike up a conversation. If it wasn't under the circumstances of her providing her help, then Alessa rarely ever started a conversation with a stranger. Conversations led to getting to know one another, that lead to being acquaintances, that led to being friends and being friends led to getting close and that pale she-wolf wasn't about to get close to anyone. She wasn't going to be abandoned again. Not again.

She had noticed the slight tensing of his body at registering her presence, probably thinking she was a threat until he'd realized she was just a wandering rogue, much like himself as far as she could tell from his scent. But then he relaxed, tongue snaking back into his cavernous jaws as they curled up into what looked like a grin, it was hard to tell if he really meant it or not his throaty voice breaching the space between him. A foreign tongue slipped from his lips, none like she had ever heard before. She had no idea what it could be, but from the intonation she assumed what he'd said had been some kind of greeting. Then again she could be wrong, but she was just going to go along with the idea that he'd just said hi to her. He continued on, asking her what she was doing out here, calling her a name in that strange tongue of his. She would've been annoyed with the fact that she didn't understand whatever language he was speaking if it weren't for the fact that she didn't really care. Not many things phased her and that was one of them. I could ask you the same thing. She countered in her own low rumble, mismatched eyes tracking the brute's movements as he lifted himself from the stream's bank to make his way towards her.

She did not tense, nor back or show any kind of reaction to his approach, merely stood her ground, tilting her head slightly up to look at the taller wolf. He chuckled and Alessa couldn't understand what amused him. Was it the way she looked? Was it that obvious she didn't understand what language he'd spoken? She supposed it didn't matter; it wasn't like she was going to ask anyway. He stopped just a foot or two away from her, his ears flicking gently towards her in an attempt to look more inviting. She made no outward appearance of acknowledgement, simply watching him, waiting for a reply, plume lashing gently behind her haunches.
