another mistep

Pounce. Hop. Move a little this way and a little that and you come to where the adult female was at. The only way to reach her was by a pounce and a hop with a little this and that way moves. At least in her mind. 'Come now dear, do be serious.' A pout came to her as she looked beside her as if someone was there. "But Layla!" There just came another rebuke as she refused to hush about the subject. Oh yeah? Well she would show her! Kaylie took off in the direction that she knew the river would be, or at least she thought so. 'Turn around dear, you're going the wrong way.' She was? Another pout came forth as she turned around to go the other way. "Oh yeah? You think you are miss smarty pants huh?" Her sister didn't answer her but instead ran along beside her always keeping up the same pace.
Once they reached the river Kaylie smiled, "See? I can do things all on my own!" She was rather proud of herself then until her darn sister just had to say something. 'Oh please, that was all me dear. You know this. Can't you think straight?' The comment insulted her and she growled at Layla before she looked at the river and spotted some rocks that looked easy enough to jump across. "Oh! Pretty rocks!" Kaylie wanted a closer look and she forgot about her sister for a moment. Her strides brought her to the rivers edge where she sprang off the ground and onto the first rock. Tan paws firmly grasped onto the slippery surface before she beamed to life once more. Kaylie took another jump but this time the landing did not go so well. Her hide fell into the water and she splashed about, inhaling much water. It seemed as though she were drowning in an ocean and there was no one to save her. 'Idiot! Stand up! The water is barely deep!' Some form of realization came to her and made her stand on all four feet as she coughed up the water in her lungs.
"I was handling it just fine thank you very much." Kaylie stuck her nose into the air and started walking off...until she tripped over a rock. Yes, this was her life. Constantly getting into these dangers that her twin Layla got her out of. Kaylie however, thought she was just as smart and brilliant as any other wolf her age. Oh if only she knew. Rather than stay at the river she had so graciously found, the girl moved on. It was time for the next part of her adventure! Three hops forward, then straight into a free skip. Until the next tree got straight in her way and she came crashing down once more. "Ow! Stupid tree!" Kaylie rubbed her head gently with her paw and looked over at her sister. 'You're fault, not mine love.' "Yeah, and here I thought you were suppose to keep me outta trouble. Isn't that what mother said." There was no reply to her though and so she scoffed and got back onto her feet. Well fine then! If she was going to ignore her then she would do it right back!
Without another word she stormed off, stamping her feet the entire time. Within seconds though Kaylie forgot all about what had just happened and stopped to look around her. She didn't know this place, was she suppose to? "Where am I Layla?" Came her obvious question as she turned to look beside her where she knew her sister would be at. 'For once I am in the same situation as you dear. Some place new is where we are.' New? Did she just say new?Oh how the excitement flowed through her as she bounded forward and let off a joyous howl. "YES!" Kaylie had been dying for some place new to come to, oh how she had. New places were always so exciting and instantly her tail went up to wag furiously in the air as she pounced around. Without even a warning she turned and pounce on her sister, or at least she was going to. Yet again though, she missed and went tumbling to the ground with a yelp before a growl came to her throat.
"I still don't get how on earth you do that." All that was offered in return was a soft laugh which made her a little bit angry. Angry enough to start running in some random direction. Before she had a chance to get far though, something came out of no where and she slammed backwards in an attempt not to run into whatever it happened to be. The result? Kaylie had run into a tree. "Now look at what you did Layla!" Even as she stomped her foot her sister just laughed at her as if it were some hilarious game of hers. Who knew! It always seemed like she was playing games on her. Kaylie could never catch her either, every time she tried to, she disappeared! It was like magic! 'I am not made of magic dear.' Hmph. "Shut up. I'm not talking to you." And there was nothing she could do about it. The wolf proceeded forward, nose high in the air and tail raised as if she were queen of the world. Who knew, she could be.
