The small girl would see the large cat emerge from the cave, at his full height he dwarfed her like she did a squirrel. Her mind quickly recalled the small spurt of fight training that her mistress had given her, she didn’t want to use it but if she needed to she would. The cat would speak to her asking why she was alone, any wolf could be alone if they wanted to wasn’t he alone as well? She hoped he was alone because if he wasn’t she was screwed. She wouldn’t have been alone if she had gone and actually followed her mistress into trouble, on the other hand she probably would have gotten hurt if she had done that. Her mind came back to reality from the rabbit trail that it had gone down, she had better think of a reply to the man or risk something bad happening. She would speak in a voice that was shy and quiet, “well.” She hesitated “I don’t exactly have anybody to be with at the moment.”
