Eyes shifted between Pontifex and Loccian, eager to see what choice Pontifex would make - if any. He wondered for a while if Pontifex was anything like Octavian, but it wasn't kind to compare two individuals, so he tried to force those thoughts from his mind. The man spoke up, asking if he could take his brother's position in order to serve the pack. Octavian had been a warrior - a Knight of Seracia, and one of the higher ranked individuals in the pack. Gerhardt smiled as he listened, pondering these things. It wasn't common for ranks to be freely given without being earned, but Pontifex's desire to take his brother's place was honorable. And honor was something the King held in extremely high regard. "Your brother was a warrior, at the rank of Esquire. His loyalty never faltered and his eagerness to serve was what earned him the title. However, your eagerness to fill his place is something I consider very honorable - and so I will grant your request temporarily. Should you prove yourself during that time period you will remain as esquire. I hope this will please everyone." He glanced at Loccian, wondering what she would think of the news. No doubt she would be thrilled for her brother - in her own classy and respectful way. "If there are no objections I will allow Loccian to show you around and get you settled. If you need anything, feel free to howl for me." With that he would turn and pivot toward his territory, moving slowly in case either of them wished to consult him further.
