Esarosa sighed to herself, ebony paws carrying her lazily through the wintry forest, hardly taking in its beauty and wonder. She still had not found what she was looking for. Her childhood friend Ajax, it would seem, would always be out of her reach. She knew it was unlikely that she would ever find him, no matter how far her paws took her. His paws steps had taken him on a different path; even if she found him, how would he react to her? She knew he had sought out darker callings, something she could never understand. They were different to the very core, although she could never forget their early days together when they were both innocent pups. Shaking her head, she tried to rid her mind of such thoughts. Replacing thoughts of her childhood friend were thoughts of Miksa. Her chest tightened and heart sank as she remembered his intense, electric eyes and his quiet but kind and steady nature. Why had he left her thinking she would find him again with his pack in neighboring lands? Upon investigating, it seemed the pack had been disband for some time. The lands were vacant, and Miksa was nowhere to be found.

Closing her emerald orbs, she huffed and grit her teeth, willing herself to move on with life. She would instead try to focus on the beautiful landscape she had come upon. It was so different from the home she had left behind; a beautiful, spirited valley that sustained the livelihood of a wide range of species, both plant and animal. The sky was vast in the valley, never closed off by trees. Here, though, was a thick canopy of ancient trees, the likes of which she'd never seen before. Her pace slowed somewhat, her eyes widening to take in the scenery. The sun peeked through the uppermost branches, causing the snow around her to glitter, causing her to smile. Her pads crunched through the snow, the only sound save for the creaking of old wooden limbs. It was peaceful here. Though she hadn't enjoyed the Northern lands so much, she would admit to herself that this forest was something she could get used to, so long as she could find enough prey to sustain herself. But her most pressing thoughts were finding something meaningful, a life that would be worth living, and she knew that could only happen if she found friends that she could share moments like these with.
