The Birds and Bees

Voltage was...restless. He paced and moved and fidgetted. It was much more obvious than normal, and for once it wasn't entirely due to his high energy levels. Infact, Voltage felt rather tired, subdued aside from his anxiety. No, he moved because it allowed his mind to rest, to wind through his thoughts without the emotion flooding and clouding it all away. He was leaving his family. Voltage was leaving his family. The one thing he vowed he would never do, he was doing. Albeit it was temporary, and it was to retrieve possible family (another vow he had taken) but it still...it was still hard. So he paced, he moved, he explored the new territory they claimed, hoping that if he walked around enough his scent would remain untill he returned. With Serefina hybernating that left few of his siblings that knew how to fight to defend their territory. He was worried, anxious. What if his siblings needed him, to talk to or play with. What if Serefina's frustration grew too strong without their fighting release or playful antics and she went beserk. With a shake of his head he sighed, closing his eyes tightly to try and push all that away. With a gentle breath then, he lifted his gaze, searching the sky for the stars. Ever since he and Astrea had their conversation on their volcano, so long ago before they grew so close, he had taken up this habit. Perhaps it was because he wished he could find his answers traced in the glowing stars, just like his littlest sister seemed to. He constantly adapted his habits to mend and mold around his family, and star gazing had become on of his favorite calm-down activities. There was something relaxing about staring at the stars, trying to envision the pictures Astrea had pointed out to him before. With a small sigh he felt his anxiety slowly lesson, and he allowed his eyes to close again and his head to drop. That was when he heard and smelt the large bird in the sky. Blinking he tilted his head, looking for signs of the hawk. Weren't they all supposed to be asleep now? He didn't know of Astrea's recent companion, it had been a small piece of information that had slipped between the cracks during all this chaos. So, when he spotted his littlest sister sitting in the prairie he couldn't help but feel surprised. This wasn't the best place to look at the stars, the cliff allowed a much better vantage point! So, with careful pawsteps he'd approach her, trying to keep out of her line of sight and not to alert her to his presence. With one precise, calculated leap he'd try to land perfectly at her side, a bright grin upon his lips. "What's a pretty thing like you doing out here all alone, little lady. Don't you have a certain mister that's supposed to protect you?" He teased, his eyes shining in the darkness. "Burn Baby Burn" |
