The forest cold

Once again Valentine found himself in the Forest. This time he had a reason (besides sulking) for gracing the mist enshrouded . It was vain hope that had drawn him in, the hope that he would, by chance, find Kassander moping about. The odds felt slim, but living so close to the Forest made resisting the temptation hard. Without realizing what he was doing, the brute's pace slowed the closer he got to the stump Kassander had been resting on. He had a very good idea what he was going to find and it was for that reason he didn't want to reach his destination. Right now he didn't know for sure, so there was still a chance that Kassander was there. Of course, when he got there, the stump would be empty. The not knowing was, in a way, nice. As he'd known it would be, the stump was cold. No warm, unhappy ginger had curled up on it recently. There was no trace of him, not even a whiff. His disappointment aside, Valentine decided the lack of evidence was a good thing. Perhaps his friend was feeling better. Time well spent, he mused wryly. Maybe it was time to head home. |
