All the Colors Fade Away

She stood at what she would gage to be the very base of the mountain, there was quite a bit of vegetation here. Trees would sway in the breeze as spring song birds filled the air with their chatter. Squirrels chimed in and it didn't seem like she could take five steps with out almost stepping on a chipmunk. If only they had a bit more meat on them it'd be worth it to make chase. She had just recently had her fill of ocean life, and now was being sustained by the smaller creatures. She still couldn't pass up a good fawn, early calving season was her favorite. Just this morning she'd stumbled on a pair of twins! She did the ecological thing though, and instead of grabbing the both of them she'd only made off with one. The brat she left though had better make it to adulthood to make more little fawns for her to eat. Her belly was quite full and she wouldn't pay much attention to the little creatures that played at her feet as she made her way through the rather thick forest that surrounded the volcano. From here she could smell the sulfur but she didn't see any smoke. Hopefully that was a good sign. Volcanos made her nervous. She'd tremble at its power, unable to remove herself from its presence. Twitching her tail slightly her vibrant amethyst gaze would linger on its summit. Eventually the foliage would be too much to see through, but for now she would gaze at its magnificence. |
