Walk | Talk | Think

Though the whole conversation was a tad awkward for him, Miksa was grateful for the concern and time taken by his packmate. Not really in either of the places that he had lived before - though he held no resentment toward either for it - had he been approached just to see how he was settling in, what he planned to do with himself in the pack, until he arrived here. Varda might only have been a peer of his, not one of the influential ranking individuals, but it was still more than he was used to. He was used to keeping his thoughts to himself, his goals internalized, and giving them voice, to have those thoughts and hopes possibly judged by others made him nervous.

But she only wanted to help; he could tell that very obviously. Even when he said so little, she still sought to keep the conversation going, trying to help him find the words that so easily evaded him as well as those that he simply lacked the nerve to speak. She helped him again as she clarified her own definition of goals, explaining that they did not have to be big in nature or even the final hoped-for result. Something small to start out with would have worked just as well, and with the advice Miksa felt some of his worry abate. Starting small and working his way up sounded so much less intimidating, especially since he still worried where his skills might have resided. "Training," he repeated, at first thoughtfully but with more conviction, "training is a good start." A little optimism entered his voice as he stared across at Varda, the vague semblance of a smile almost turning up the corners of his mouth. Training. He could do this.
