Ashmedai was taken off guard when his opponent stepped to his right (Ashmedai's left). He wasn't supposed to do that! That was Ashmedai's move! Ash's teeth pierced then grazed past Lyndvarr's left cheek and his shoulder would shove roughly past Lyndvarr's. Uh-oh, this wasn't good. At this rate, the opponent would have free range at his stomach! Ashmedai knew he had to do something about it, but he wasn't quite sure what. Ashmedai thought the best thing to do was to not stick around to let Lyndvarr get at his soft spots (but let's be honest, he's one whole big soft spot).
Ashmedai shifted his weight to his front feet and kicked off with his back feet, aiming to pivot his rear end to his right and away from Lyndvarr to become perpendicular with his opponent instead of parallel and to be able to face his opponent's rump. The opponent's right shoulder would jut into Ashmedai's lower left gut as he began to pull away. It was still a sharp jab that caused Ashmedai to cough and his tail to tuck instinctively. It would continue to be a dull pain during the fight and it would leave moderate bruising after the fight. Lyndvarr's bite would still puncture and graze Ashmedai's left knee, leaving moderate lacerations that would sting with every step. He would cry out a little, being one of the first times he was really hurt. Lyndvarr's right forepaw would hook around Ashmedai's back left leg as it pulled away from Lyndvarr, leaving little to no scratching, but tripping Ashmedai up a bit as he tried to pivot his rear end away.
Stumbling slightly, Ashmedai gathered himself, widening his stance to catch himself from falling. He bent his legs and redistributed his weight from pivoting his rear end to his right. As his knees bent, the lacerations from Lyndvarr's attack stung, making him wince, slightly teary-eyed. He kept his tail tucked for protection now, his ears following suit as his lips lifted and his eyes narrowed. Ashmedai's whole face scrunched in order to deflect attacks and he kept his hackles raised. His chin tucked and his shoulders rolled forward to protect his neck, still following his mother's directions as close as he could. Splaying his toes and digging his nails into the ground for traction, Ashmedai prepared for his attack... What was his attack again?
Ashmedai kicked off, attempting to close the small distance between his jaws and Lyndvarr's left hind leg. Being taller, he assumed that going for a leg might be advantageous when used with brute force. Ashmedai would tilt his head to his left, aiming to grip Lyndvarr's left hock on his back leg, his upper jaws seeking the front of the joint while his lower jaw was aimed towards the back part where the actual hock was. While doing this, he would raise his right forepaw, redistributing his weight to his other three legs, and attempt to hook it below his bite on Lyndvarr's left hind leg, just above the ankle. He aimed to pull the appendage towards him, now seeking using his larger mass to shove forward and up, hoping to throw off Lyndvarr's balance. He could have spread out his attacks, he thought, but he figured if he aimed all in the same place, it would be a harder attack to break away from. He hoped to really trip Lyndvarr up, giving him the advantage he needed to win this fight.
