Call to the King

Erani |
She sat in the open area of the ravine, basking in the dappled light of the suck glowing through the leaves that finished the ravine?s walls? stretch to make it a cave. Her talk with her brother, and the telling of tales to each other had eased that last ache in her heart. The fact that late this summer, she would be starting her own blood family, restarting Redwood?s line in Valhalla, with a wonderful male who loved her as much as she loved him added to her happiness. But she had a growing worry. She?d not seen hide nor hair of Collision lately. And she needed to speak with him badly. It was against the pack rules to take a mate without telling the Alpha, and not only had she taken a mate, she was pregnant. She had called for Collision, but had not been answered. She grumbled softy. Soleil was improving greatly, but Erani would leave the matter to Collision. She would have liked to tell Cairo, but? He was no longer Alpha. No longer King. She wished he was. Even when he had been absent, his presence had resonated throughout Valhalla. His strength had been there. Collision?s absence gave her the feeling of unease. His place was with the pack. His place was by his ill mate?s side, giving her support while she recovered. Yet he was absent. She rose and followed the ravine to the end and sat, watching the sky cloud over; heavy, black clouds, full of rain and flickers of lightning. She would try again. She had to try again. Tilting her head back, she gave a long, loud call, singing for the current king to come. |
